Functional Overview of CASCADE

There are basically three ways things get done on CASCADE. Users take explicit actions by issuing commands from menu choices. User make implicit choices by clicking in sensitive areas -- such as document displays and navigation aids, and agents take actions on explicit or implicit user directives. We provide a very brief overview of the explicit command menus in CASCADE below. the interested reader should see the "User's Guide" for user complete information. This document provides a rather extensive treatment of the various tools and processes in CASCADE that aid document manipulation and analysis. Additonal sections provide information about augmented navigational tools in CASCADE, existing and planned agents, and a couple of the processes that have been developed to make use of information maintained by the system.
