The Library and Information Science Program offers three graduate programs - the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), including the Online Distance MLIS Degree Program (FastTrack MLIS), the Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS), and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The MLIS Program represents a continuous 100 year tradition of education for the library and information professions, which began in 1901 with the Training School for Children's Librarians, a department of the Carnegie Library. Andrew Carnegie was the school's first benefactor. The education of librarians who work with youth continues as a strength today.
