You will be assigned to a small group, and your guide will take you to these information points in rotation:
  STATION I: SIS COMPUTING LABS [ 8th Floor ]
  • Meet SIS Lab Staff
  • Learn about hours of service and basic rules
  • Learn about follow-up workshops
  • Ask questions
 

STATION II: INFORMATION SCIENCES LIBRARY [ 3rd & 4th Floors ]

  • Meet the Information Sciences Library Staff
  • Gain an understanding of the services of the IS Library
  • Learn about hours of service and basic rules
  • Learn about library instruction workshops on using both print and electronic resources
  • Ask questions
 

STATION III: PHOTOGRAPHS/CAP ACCOUNT [ Room 403 ]

  • Have photo taken for your SIS File
  • Apply for your University CAP account that you will need to access computing resources at University of Pittsburgh
 

STATION IV: INFORMATION SESSION ON ACADEMIC LIFE [ Room 409 ]

  • Safety of campus
  • Academic Integrity
  • Grading Policies
  • Conduct in using University and SIS computing facilities and equipment
  • Sexual harassment
  • Ask questions
12:45 - 1:30 pm LUNCH WITH FACULTY, STAFF, & STUDENTS/CAMPUS LIFE [ Rooms 501/501C/502/503 ]

1:30 - 4:00 p.m. LAB SESSIONS FOR DLIS STUDENTS
This is a session about the information, services, and courses available through DLIS, the SIS Labs, and the CIS Labs. The acquisition of the information technology competencies that were identified by the DLIS faculty in the Computer Competencies: MLIS Program document will be addressed.
