About SADET Workshop

The SADET workshop is part of the NSF funded project titled: “Security-Assured Data Science Workforce Development in Pennsylvania”. For more information on the SADET project, please visit the project website: SADET .


The workshop will serve as a general introduction to the 2018 Security-assured Data Science Materials Competition. It will allow teachers and other participants to share experiences, ideas and collaborations. The workshop will include an overview of the integrated curriculum on Security-Assured Data Science Education and Training (SADET), an undergraduate level curriculum to be offered to high school students as a part of Pitt’s College in High School program.


Topics covered will include:

  • Presentations and discussion on data security challenges and the role of data science in next generation computing and information related technologies.
  • Presentations and discussion on the state-of-the-art solutions, standards and best practices, and tools.
  • Data security tools and techniques and data science science research to practice.

Participants will receive information at the workshop on the 2018 Security-Assured Data Science Materials Competition. New training modules and assessment material will be solicited from teachers. The deadline for module submission will be announced. Prizes will range from $500 - $4,000 for the best modules in the competition.
