Philosophy of life: A tribute to the power of I. A tribute to the mind, the
soul, to what lies within.
Life is a matter of choices and we are the ones who should make those choices
and hence determine our
state of mind. This, in my opinion, is true and absolute power. This power
resides in each and every
one of us, waiting for us to embrace it. We determine what makes us happy, sad,
anything in between or
anything otherwise and we determine what is right or wrong. Hence every thing
that we will ever need
rests within our mind, our soul and our body. This, to me, is the essence of true
individuality. The choice to strive
for the recognition of the world or to that of your own is again ours. We and
only we should make that
choice. I determine the others recognition I strive for, if I do decide to
consider another’s opinion,
besides that of my own.
And is the choice we make right or wrong? We the individual should have the
right to judge. How we
handle the good and the bad is again our choice. There is always something
positive and negative in
everything thereby retaining that balance required by natural law. We get to
choose how we handle the
positives and negatives. If we believe that the choices we made were wrong, we
can choose to learn from
the wrong and improve or could ignore the fact that we erred and continue
hurting ourselves. I see nothing
wrong with either choice as long as it is the deliberate choice that we make for
ourselves.
Does this makes sense? Today, to me, it does. I say today because I look at life
as a continuous experiment
subject to reinvention and discovery, and as of today I believe that change is
always a possibility.
As for you? You choose what to do with it and how to look at it. I believe it is
I and only I who makes the
choice of whether I should consider another opinion and only I determine the
degree of importance that I will
give to another’s opinion. *
*This entire Philosophy was written a couple of years ago. Over the past few years, certain personal experiences have led to me seriously question the issue of choice. How much of what we do is actually in our hands? Certain emotions seem spontaneous, but I still feel we have control over the circumstances that surround these emotions and do hold a fair amount of control in our lives. Quantum physics apparently speaks of a similar phenomenon. (Aug, 7th 2006)
Philosophy of life 2: A
universal view of the world today and the power of the individual.
Continuing from the Philosophy of Life - I rarely have anything to complain
about. I believe that the world
is mine by right. So, if I find anything wrong with it, I look to myself for the
answers. A person tends
to view their own being a lot less critically, and so that’s how I get by. If
there is something that bothers
me, I tend to remind my self time and again that I have every power I need to
make things right and that I
should be the one to make things right if I feel the need to.
I also believe that every one of us has the power within to make the change. All
it takes is the power of
belief and will, besides a few other things. I try everyday to make that change
and I know that one day I
will make a bigger impact in whatever little way I can.
Plea to the media: A
plea to the members of the media. We, the people, need not be faultless.
For centuries people have had things to say, people have always had their
opinions. Well this is a period
in history, a revolution in the information world. Today, almost anyone gets to
be heard. And with every
positive, there has to be a flip side. The information equals power law has
taken on a new meaning. It has
almost made gods out of the pundits of the world. Its time for the pundits of
the world to have their say.
The spotlight is on you. Silence is a crime, caution must be disregarded. There
are people to listen and you
the pundits, must speak.
And what is it that is actually being said? Sadly, it does not seem to matter
anymore.
Words seem to have lost their worth.
How often have observers, specialists, journalists, analysts, the media in
general been woefully wrong in their opinions
and views? Are we going to realize that everyone is human and everyone is prone
to error, even the person with
the most experience in the world and one who has the respect of the entire world
audience.
My plea is simple and it is directed to everyone. Firstly and particularly to
the journalists, former "greats"
and commentators, to the specialists and to the know alls. Everyone with a powerful
voice and a comfortable armchair
to deliver it from. Please , pause to think and reconsider the power of your
voice. With the spotlight so fierce,
your words make or break lives and careers. Your words can glorify or demolish
and often this can be rather unfair
and unjust. And what with the audience, eager to listen , desperate to hear and
passionate as ever. Please
understand that we are not meant to be pawns in this game. Although you have the
strings to make it work that way.
What you say has power and with it must come great responsibility. This being a
quote from a Spiderman movie,
I’ am surprised to see how true it actually is. Journalists have always had this
power, whether they know it or
not, and with the world as it is today, this power has been granted to one and
all. Everyone who has the experience
and has knowledge of the alphabet is in. Everyone has a pen and so everyone must
speak.
My suggestion to you writers and journalists is to focus on the positives and be
careful with the negatives. Be
careful with your negative comments because they can sting. Be fluent with your
praise because it travels a lot slower.
Cause that is the way we audience are.
We are quick to pounce on the negatives and are less interested in the
positives. We choose what we want to believe
and what we want to hear and you are there to deliver it. With so much being
said everyone has their words they want
to listen to.
And secondly, my plea to the audience, we have to begin to look more closely at
what is being said rather than who
it is who's actually saying it. We all have our opinions and we can all be
wrong, cause we are all, after all, only
human, only human.
