- The printer is displaying an error message. What
do I do? Immediately tell the GSA on duty. If there
is a jam, the GSA can remove the paper that is causing the
jam. If the error is stopping the print queue, the GSA can
clear the queue. If the printer is outputting large quantities
of paper with odd characters on it, the GSA can "kill"
the job. In all cases, the sooner the GSA is aware of the
problem, the sooner the problem can be fixed.
- How do I print single-sided documents?
The printers default to double-sided printing. If you wish
to print on one side of the paper only, you must choose
this option each time you open a new program. In Word, Excel,
and Power Point, the single-sided printing option is selected
as follows:
Select File --> Print from the pull-down menu. Click
on the button marked "properties" in the top
right corner of the print window. Under the heading
"Print on Both Sides (Duplex Printing)" select
"none." This change will stay in effect while
the application is open. Remember that when you close
the application the printing defaults back to double-sided
printing.
- I printed a document but it didn't come out .
. . where did it go? If you are not sure whether
your print job was successfully sent to the print queue,
ask the GSA to check the queue to see if your job is on
it. In order to check the queue, the GSA will need to know
the name of the machine on which you are working (this information
is printed on the front of the computer; e.g., photosphere,
io, contact). Many people may have jobs in the queue, so
check with the GSA on duty to see if yours is in the printer
queue. Sending it multiple times will only serve to clog
up the printer queue and waste paper.
