Kenneth R. Fleischmann PhD Candidate, Department of
Science and Technology Studies “EXPLORING THE DESIGN-USE INTERFACE: Thursday,
February 19, 2004 Abstract: This presentation explores the complex relationships among designers and users of educational computer software, including processes of cooperation and conflict. The two case studies examined are frog dissection simulation used in biology education and human anatomy simulation used in medical education. A three-step process for studying the design and use of a software product in its social context is developed and applied in both case studies. This research has broad implications for the fields of medical informatics, social informatics, information ethics, and user-centered design. | ||
