What is SCALA?

SCALA stands for the Student Chapter of the American Library Association. Our chapter is located at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and is connected to Pitt's Department of Library and Information Science. Our chapter was founded on January 28, 1988, and was the 15th official student ALA chapter.

SCALA's Mission

  • To acquaint members with the goals and objectives of the American Library Association and the local student chapter.
  • To encourage professional contacts and involvement in professional activities.
  • To provide the members of the Student Chapter with official representation to the American Library Association and elsewhere.

Welcome to SCALA @ Pitt!
