Policies and Procedures

To request to have your class taped:

  1. Contact Mark Steggert and complete CourseCast Taping Request Form.

  2. Provide Mark Steggert with the day, dates, and session names of the classes to be taped. 

    Example:
    Tuesday, 1-10-06, Marketing Plans   
                    Tuesday, 1-17-06, Defining Marketing 

    Note:
      Be sure to provide your request for the session at BEGINNING OF THE TERM so that a videographer and computer cart can be provided. 
  1. Instructors should make sure to obtain a user name and password for the CourseCast system from Mark Steggert. 

To prepare for taping your class: 

  1. Save your Power Point to "My Documents".

    Note: You must have a Power Point for the system to work properly. 
  1. Open up Internet Explorer (other browsers will not support the system). 
  2. Type in http://dvssilver.pitt.edu.
  3. Enter your user name and password. 
  4. Find the appropriate class session (it will be listed by date and will include topic if you provided this – for example “11-15-05  Marketing Strategies”). 
  5. Select "Display Power Point". 
  6. Click "Present Power Point". 
  7. Locate your Power Point in the folder where you saved it.

    Note: You MUST open the Power Point through the system and not independently. 
  1. The Power Point program will open on your screen with your file showing in "Normal" format. 
  2. Maximize the Power Point by selecting "Slide Show" under "View" to begin taping. 
  3. The link to your class will be sent to you via e-mail within 48 hours.

For Guest Lecture or Colloquia Speakers:

The instructor hosting the guest lecturer or colloquium should notify Mark Steggert and obtain a CourseCast Request Form. Requests will be accepted after the beginning of a term depending on the availability of  equipment and staff.
