National Library Week Effords

Students

The students who created the projects were members of the "Marketing and Public Relations for Libraries" class at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Information Sciences.  The students were pursuing their Master of Science in Library and Information Science; some were in the on-campus course while others participated in the course via distance learning technology.  The course is taught by Sue Alman, who also serves as the Director of Distance Education and Outreach at the School of Information Sciences.  Each year, Dr. Alman has her "Marketing" class work on promotional materials and projects to support National Library Week.  These projects were the capstone of the course and offered students practical experience in promotion of library activities.  In addition, the students can use their work product as part of their portfolio when they begin their job searches.
