SAIS Track within MSIS Program
Students pursuing the SAIS track within the MSIS program are required to fulfill the MSIS course requirements by taking a specified number of credit hours of coursework from the Foundations, Cognitive Systems, Systems and Technology and Elective areas. The highly recommended SAIS plan of study meeting the required MSIS course distribution is shown in the table below.

*Note that the courses listed in the table are highly recommended. With approval from the department students may be able take courses other than ones listed above to meet a specific area requirement. With special permission, students may also be exempted from taking IS2000. In that case, another Foundations Area course is required.
Some of the recommended S&T elective courses are:

- IS 2410: Introduction To Parallel Distributed Processing
- IS 2160: Data Mining
Students may also use, with permission from his advisor, any course listed in the previous categories or the IA Elective pool or any other remaining courses in the Information Science program, including TELCOM 2200: Electronic Communications I and TELCOM 2510: US Telecommunications Policy, to satisfy the S&T/Cognitive Elective.
