Customizing NEditMost user-settable options are found within the Preferences menu or the Default Settings sub-menu. The difference is that changing settings in the Preferences menu itself will only affect the current NEdit window. Changing settings in the Default Settings sub-menu will not affect the current NEdit window, they will affect future windows. Selecting Save Defaults from the Default Settings sub-menu will save the new settings from session to session. From The Preferences Menu...Text Font... changes the font used to display text. Make Backup Copy makes a backup copy of the file, as it was before the Save command. Read Only prevents the file from being modified in the current session. From The Preferences -> Default Settings Menu...Searching controls some options for the Find and Replace commands. Choosing Verbose will give search results in dialog form. Choosing Keep Dialogs Up will keep the Replace and Find boxes up afer searching. Popups Under Pointer displays the pop-up dialogs centered on the current mouse position. This can help speed up interaction with NEdit. Initial Window Size sets the default window size for all new NEdit windows. NOTE: There are more customizable features that pertain to programming and will be covered next in the tutorial |
