INFSCI 1085 Internship

Read this first!

IS 1085 is one option for meeting the capstone requirement for the BSIS degree in Pitt's ISchool. To enroll, you must have the Instructor's permission and your employer's explicit support. Obviously, there is no guarantee that you will secure employment and even if you do, there is no guarantee that it meets course requirements. Therefore, you can not assume this course will satisfy your capstone requirement. The Instructor strongly recommends you begin planning for your capstone as soon as you are admitted to the BSIS program. Currently, IS 1059 (Web Programming) is a designated capstone course. It is taught in the Fall only. For other options, check with the BSIS office.

Recent academic performance in this course has been unacceptable. Three students failed their internships during the Summer 11 term! As a result, the enrollment procedure has been completely revamped so that only those students who are sufficiently prepared for success will be permitted to enroll. Your next step is to download the documents from the link below. This zip file contains the syllabus for Fall 11 (revised as of 8/25/11), your application form and two sample forms that the BSIS office forwards to the employer. Read all course documents carefully! The Instructor will only respond to course questions not addressed on the syllabus or forms.

Now download the course documents and read them carefully
