Dr. Ray's INFSCI 1026 Management of Information Systems (Fall 11)

INFSCI 1026 Management of Information Systems

Welcome to Dr. Ray's course website (Fall 11). I'll update the website on a weekly basis, so check back often.

Course Overview

The primary goal of this course is to study the IT best practices that distinguish high-performing from low-performing organizations and leverage that knowledge so you can successfully compete for a job with a mature IT employer. You'll learn interviewing technqiues for assessing IT management effectiveness and how to write a resume that attracts attention by clearly distinguishing you from the competition.

Landing a coveted job is just the beginning. To enjoy a long, successful career, you need to understand management's perspective. This requires effective communication and finance skills. Working in pairs, you'll deliver several presentations on cutting-edge topics in IT management and gain valuable business skills in financial analysis and capital budgeting.

This course is most appropriate for Seniors who are well into the BSIS curriculum. Upon completion, you'll have a toolkit for success that most people only acquire after paying a high tuition to the School Of Hard Knocks!

Enrollment is by Instructor's permission which is liberally granted for students seriously interested in their professional development. The most useful prereq is my System's Analysis course (IS 1024) which should be taken in Fall of your Junior year.
