History
The Sara Fine Institute (SFI) was established by the School of Information Sciences in honor of Dr. Sara Fine at the time of her retirement. The institute is a University-wide resource based in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh.
The Institute continues Dr. Fine's research into the novel issues emerging from the impact of technology on interpersonal behavior. Dr. Fine's former students created an endowment to foster the continuation of her work and support an annual SFI lecture series.
Each year, the Institute hosts distinguished national speakers addressing the complex opportunities and challenges in the field.
