Graduates of the Archives and Records Management program are highly sought after for both entry-level and middle-level positions in government, higher education, museums and cultural organizations, the corporate world, and in an array of other organizations, as some testimonials below suggest.

Faculty members provide advice about preparing applications for positions and are available to assist students in considering various career options in the archives and records management field.  The Society of American Archivists Student Chapter often hosts workshops and talks on resume preparing, interviewing, and job searching.

Students can easily track available archives, records management, and other records positions via their descriptions on listservs and on the World Wide Web.  The great majority of entry-level archives positions, for example, are posted on the Archives and Archivists list.  All MLIS students in the program can sign up for daily emails with new position announcements in the library and information professions, including advertisements for archives and records management positions, along with other information of interest to individuals in the MLIS degree program (students should go to the “Mailing Lists” page and follow the appropriate instructions).
