Instruments Used in CASCADE Studies
In our efforts to refine CASCADE, we have developed a couple different
questionaires and task analysis sheets. We make them available below for those
who may have an interest:
-
Demographic, Preference, and Error Collection Instruments. An early study of CASCADE tried to gather three different kinds of data.
First, we gathered relevant demographic data to use in interpreting error and
performance data. Second, we gathered some initial preference data from users
prior to the task analysis to get some sense of user color preferences and menu
placement preferences.
-
Tasks and Directions for a Simulated Collaboration Effort. The same group of subjects used in the study above were used in a semi-real
follow-up study that attempted to gather data about the software in a simulated
real use scenario.
- Questionnaire on
Conference Tool Usage. CASCADE was made available to a group of conference participants as a tool
to be used in post conference collaboration. We initially planned on using a
single questionnaire. However, when we saw the actual usage data, it bacame
clear that the group was not distributed across a range of usage, but was
clearly bi-modal -- users and non-users. Two different questionnaires were developed and
distributed to the groups
