Why do I get an error saying "Network Failure. You may retry."?

First, click the OK button on the error message to clear the message window.

You may not be connected to the internet:
Try using a web browser to get to the CASCADE web page at http://www.sis.pitt.edu/~cascade, if you can see the web page, you are connected to the internet.

If you receive a message from your browser saying that the it is unable to find the server http://www.sis.pitt.edu/~cascade, then you are not connected to the internet.

You are connected to the internet but there may be a firewall:
Start CASCADE, at the login window, pull down the Server menu and select "Set New Server" to verify that the server information you were given is entered correctly.

If the server information is correct and you have successfully connected to CASCADE before then please contact us so we can look into the problem.

If the server information is correct and this is your first attempt at trying to login to CASCADE then your organization may have an internal firewall preventing you from accessing the internet. You will need to contact your Network Administrator to allow access to ports in the 7000 range.
