CASCADE Client HTML Download Instructions
Latest Release: Version R.028

This page describes how new users can obtain a copy of the CASCADE client. It may also be used by existing users to upgrade to the current version of the client. The current version is shown in the title above. You can determine the version you are using by looking for a number in the lower left corner of the login screen -- if there is no number there, you definitely need to upgrade.

Once you have downloaded CASCADE, you will want to see the installation instructions for how to set it up on a PC.

A note to net surfers: This software is designed for people who have been invited to use the CASCADE system. CASCADE requires a user to login. Thus, while anyone can download this software, only those with accounts will be able to connect to a server. If you are an academic researcher, or if you think your organization might be able to use CASCADE, we encourage you to contact the developers to see if we can accommodate your needs in some way. See the welcome page for information on getting in touch with us.

Win95/98/NT Client/Intel

A self extracting zip file (4.3MB) is provided here for NT and Windows 95. Once this file, called cascade.zip, has been downloaded to your PC, double click on to unzip the files. A folder called CASCADE DISKS will be created in whatever directory you have specified as TEMP -- normally C:\temp. In this folder, there will be four(4) disk folders and a readme.txt file. In the folder DISK1 there is a setup program which will do a normal windows setup of CASCADE. (If you wish to make disk images of CASCADE on 1.44MB floppies, you may do so by copying the contents of each of the disk folders to a separate floppy. This will make multiple installs easier for users with slow network access.

Sun Solaris 2.0/SPARC Client

A zipped tar file (4.1MB) contains all the information needed to install the client on a Solaris system. Follow the instruction in the install.txt file. You may need to consult your system administrator.
