This section begins by providing a definition for collaboration and groupware. It continues with an elaboration of some of the research questions that are involved. A framework for examining systems that support collaboration is provided along with some of the issues that must be addressed by these systems. Finally, there is a brief review of the specialized needs of collaborative authoring.
