Microsoft Access 2000 is part of the Microsoft Office 2000 suite. It is a powerful relational database management system that can be used to create all kinds of databases--from a recipe file system to a complex tracking system. The Access 2000 version is available on the Pentium PCs in the SIS Computing Labs. The following resources are available online to help gain an understanding of Access and its features.

  • Microsoft Office-Access Home Page. Available at http://www.microsoft.com/office/access/default.htm. This site contains an upgrade center and tools to help you work smarter in Access 2003.
  • FMS-Microsoft Access, Visual Basic and SQL Server Products. Available at http://www.fmsinc.com/. This site contains information about FMS, the leading developer of tools and related products for the Microsoft Access, Visual Basic and SQL Server communities.
  • Microsoft Access Help Centre. Available at http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/ This site contains tips, support, training, and development information.
  • Microsoft Access: Databases. Available at http://databases.about.com/cs/access/. This site contains links and resources for Microsoft Access.
  • Microsoft Access 2000 Database tutorial: Available at http://www.courses.psu.edu/infsy/infsy540_gjy1/access_tutorial_2000.html. According to this Penn State Web page, "This tutorial is designed to teach you how to create and use a database using Microsoft Access as the database application. The tutorial assumes knowledge of basic database concepts."
