Dr. Thompson will present “Disaster-Proof Telecommunications“. 911 wiped out critical telecom infrastructure with ramifications for thousands upon thousands of businesses and individuals. Now, by flexibly shifting between the Internet and the public telephone network, uninterrupted connectivity can be maintained even when disaster strikes. A start-up company called Telecontinuity is offering this disaster-proof telecom service right now, on the strength of Pitt research and talent.
