Andrea Ketchum MLIS is the 2005 winner of the national
Medical Library Association's Continuing Education Award.
The MLA makes these awards
to medical librarians who will use the funds "to develop
their knowledge of theoretical, administrative, or technical
aspects of librarianship."
Andrea M. Ketchum earned her MLIS with a concentration in
medical librarianship in 2001, and completed the Health Sciences
Library and Informatics Traineeship, a combined program of
Health Sciences Library System and the Center for Biomedical
Informatics, in 2002. She became a part-time Special Projects
Librarian in the System in 2002, and joined the HSLS as a
fulltime reference librarian in the Fall of 2003. She also
now serves as a Liaison Librarian for the Children's Hospital
of Pittsburgh. Andrea also serves as Case Librarian for the
problem-based learning module on Breast Cancer, required
of all first-year medical students at Pitt. In 2004, she
presented a poster at the national MLA meetings, entitled "Consumer
Health Information Web Sites: the State of the Art. A snapshot
analysis of Consumer Health web sites." |
