I attended SIS as an exchange student from Molde College
in Norway because I realized that a foreign master's degree
could give me an edge in the local job market.
The education I received through the Department
of Information Science and Telecommunications prepared
me in numerous ways for my current work as a consultant
at Accenture
in Oslo, Norway. It provided me a very strong theoretical
background, which has been extremely useful when I am
making critical decisions on the fly and figuring out
answers to questions with which I have never before been
faced. This foundational knowledge has given me confidence
and maturity, characteristics that are assets in the challenging
and competitive work environment.
As a consultant, I specialize in IT and telecommunications
services, including working with value-added services for
mobile phones. In Northern Europe (Scandinavia), the greatest
call for value-added services include text messages (SMS),
WAP, maps, and shopping via mobile phone. My current project
assignment is to develop a rating engine for 2.5G (GPRS) and
3G (UMTS) mobile phone systems.
Note: Accenture is the world's
leading provider of management and technology consulting
services and solutions, with more than 70,000 people in
46 countries delivering a wide range of specialized capabilities
and solutions to clients across all industries. (from
