Global Pitt

February 11, 2010

I will discuss the University’s “International Plan Framework” approved by the Council of Deans at the all faculty meeting scheduled for Friday (using the draft dated December 6, 2009 as a reference). In particular, I will mention that the Council of Deans is currently working with Larry Feick and UCIS on implementation strategies and plans, including consideration of opening a Pitt office abroad, with China being a country of interest. I will also note that the plan requires each School to develop approaches for assessing student “global competence” at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to develop the means of assessing graduates’ global competence.
