Theresa Benedek and Mark Steggert have been working with Facilities Management to prepare for the renovation of the 8th floor. From a variety of sources, including a supplemental budget augmentation from the Provost, we have almost enough funds to substantially improve room 819. The concept they are considering is based on instructional lab designs in other schools at Pitt and CMU, (e.g., Engineering). At the all faculty meeting on April 30, Theresa will discuss the status of those plans. As planning at this point is purely conceptual, it is timely for faculty review before we are committed to a particular design. I look forward to a discussion with faculty regarding the design of this space. It is my intention to develop the 8th floor to the best of our ability to best support the School’s evolving teaching and learning needs.
