Clarification of equipment policy under review by Council

In general, equipment purchased for a faculty member’s use while at SIS is the property of the University of Pittsburgh.  If equipment was purchased on an active grant and the grant is being transferred, the equipment will be transferred to the new institution.  If equipment was purchased on a grant that is no longer active, it is the property of the University.

A departing faculty member may make a request to the Dean (or his/her designee) to retain equipment after leaving SIS.  If, in the Dean’s judgment, the equipment has little or no further utility to the school, s/he may permit the faculty member to take that equipment with them in accord with University Procedure 05-10-01 for disposal of an asset.
