Board of Visitors

The SIS Board of Visitors will be meeting on October 15-16, beginning with lunch on October 15. The afternoon of the 15th will provide an opportunity for the Board to become more directly familiar with the work of our faculty and students. I encourage each faculty member to consider what aspect of your work would be of interest to the Board and to suggest how you might present this to them… e.g., a demonstration, a poster, perhaps a presentation. I also encourage you to identify students doing particularly interesting work who may have a poster they can use to describe their work. I anticipate that we will identify an hour or two for poster /’ demo sessions and then encourage small group or one-on-one discussions.
Please consider what you and/or your students might bring to the Board and give me your ideas by next Wednesday, October 1. Please copy Carolyn on your proposed topics.
Program chairs – please prepare a short written update on your progress and plans for your respective programs by October 3. My intention is to send these to Board members in advance of the meeting.
I anticipate that this BOV meeting will review advances made in the Telecommunications and Networking Program over the past year, update the Board on GIST-related topics such as social networking that they expressed interest in last year, and consider trends, directions, strategies, and resources in the LIS Program.
