The
School of Information Sciences is pleased to co-host
a regional workshop on copyright law and policy featuring
Dr. Kenneth Crews who serves as the Director of the Copyright
Management Center Indiana University Purdue-University
Indianapolis. The workshop will take place on
Tuesday, September 18th from 9:30 am through 3:30 pm
at the Carnegie Museum of Art Theatre in Oakland. Dr.
Crews will discuss “Copyright: Myths,
Principles and the Law.” Crews recently authored Copyright
Law for Librarians and Educators.
The use of copyright and copyright laws encourages resourcefulness
in the attempt to advance knowledge and research. This
workshop outlines trends, developments and future directions
of copyright as well as fair use, permissions, licensing
and the latest developments from congress and the courts. The
goal of this workshop is to educate the university community
and encourage active interest copyright issues.
Dr. Kenneth Crews is Director of the Copyright Management
Center based at Indiana University-Purdue University
Indianapolis. Before going to IUPUI, Dr. Crews
practiced law in Los Angeles, co-founded a non-profit
business association and taught law at the California
State University. Dr. Crews is a graduate of Northwestern
and Washington Universities as well as the University
of California, Los Angeles.
