Students at the School of Information
Sciences, in conjunction with staff from the SIS Library’s
Elizabeth Nesbitt Room, will present a special event
in honor of National Library Week. Two film versions
of the classic tale of "Beauty and the Beast" will
be screened on April 17th and 18th at 8:30 p.m. in
Room 1A04 of the Information Sciences Building.
On April 17, Jean Cocteau's classic French-language
version "La Belle et la Bete" will be screened
with a post-film discussion lead by Andy Horbal. On
April 18, you can enjoy the Disney animated version
of "Beauty and the Beast," with a post film
discussion led by Vani Natarajan and Clare Withers. Come
for one film or two, to fully appreciate these different
versions of this wonderful story! Light refreshments
will be available.
National Library Week, April 15-21, is a nation-wide
recognition of the contributions of our nation's libraries,
librarians and library workers. The week also
encourages libraries and institutions of higher education
to promote library use and support. This local
event is co-hosted by SIS students and the staff of
the SIS Library, which is home to the Elizabeth Nesbitt
Room. The Elizabeth Nesbitt Room houses several
special collections related to the history of children
and their books and media. The collection includes
more than 12,000 books and magazine titles dating from
the 1600s through today. For more information
