IS Network: PghOUG - Location-Based Services
Advances in geopositioning, mobile computing and wireless technologies have spurred the emergence of Location-Based Services (LBS). LBS provide location information in the mobile environment, and when coupled with contextual data, enable users to make decisions on a range of activities in real time. There are numerous applications where crucial decisions can be made by having knowledge about the whereabouts of mobile objects. Join the Oracle User Group as Hassan A. Karimi from the Department of Information Science and Telecommunications at the University of Pittsburgh provides an overview of the architectures, technologies and databases for LBS along with sample applications and services.
