Dr Weaver will discuss her experiences teaching on-line courses at the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand and the University of Pittsburgh. The Open Polytechnic of NZ has 30,000 students and *no* classrooms -- it's entirely by distance.

Biography: Dr. Weaver obtained her PhD in Psychology from Duke University, a BS in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University, and a BS in Mathematics from Pennsylvania State University.

Research Interests: Cognitive Psychology, especially Human Memory and Categorization; Human Perception, especially Vision; Human Factors and Applied Cognitive Psychology; History of Psychology and of Cognitive Science; Distance Education, International Aspects of Education.

Teaching Interests: Human Information Processing; Human Factors in System Design.
