The Doctor of Philosophy in Information Science program prepares students for advanced work in research and teaching. It provides research-oriented graduate study and professional specialization in the science of information. The candidate must give evidence of superior scholarship and mastery of a specialized field of knowledge and must demonstrate his/her ability to do significant and relevant research. Potential applicants to the Ph.D. program are encouraged to examine the web pages of the department's research groups, and to submit an application. Applications are reviewed once annually. Applicants applying to the Ph.D. IS Program may begin their studies only in the Fall Term. The Admissions and Financial Aid deadline for the Ph.D. IS Program is January 15.
