Shop Mainstreets Pittsburgh:
"Good Things Come in Small Neighborhoods"

As graduate students, we don't exactly have unlimited cash to throw around. We tend to shop in the neighborhoods where we live. And we love discounts! That's why the "Shop Mainstreets Pittsburgh" Campaign is such a perfect match for our penny-pinching lifestyles. The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh launched this campaign to promote local spending in fourteen Pittsburgh business districts, including Bloomfield, East Liberty, Oakland, the South Side, and the Strip District. Shopping and spending where you live leads to benefits for your neighborhood. Here are just a few reasons to Shop Mainstreets Pittsburgh:

As if all of this weren't reason enough to start shopping, you can also enter for a chance to win $1000 at any one of the approximately 150 participating local merchants. No purchase is necessary to enter, and the winner will be drawn on July 31, 2004. These merchants are also offering 10% discounts on selected items when you present your Discount Card (your very own copy can be found below, ready to be clipped and used!).

Here are a handful of the Oakland businesses that are participating:

The campaign will end on July 31, 2004!
