Associate Professor Amanda H. Spink was appointed as a Reviewer, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, 2003-2004.

Associate Professor Amanda H. Spink was appointed to the Peer Review Committee, Fulbright Senior Specialist Program, Information Technology, 2002-2004.

Professor Richard J. Cox spoke to the Association of Records Managers and Administrators, Pittsburgh Chapter, on the topic of "The Place of Corporate Archives in the Digital Age" at the Engineers Club on February 11th, 2004.

An interview with Professor Emeritus E. J. Josey, "Black History Recovered: A Conversation with Black-Librarian Scholar E.J. Josey," was published in the "News & Views" section of the Feb. 11th, 2004, edition of the Pittsburgh City Paper.

MLIS Alumna Deirdre Scaggs, a member of the 2003 class of graduating archival students, published "The Appraisal of Amateur Photography," in Records & Information Management Report 20 (Feb. 2004): 1-14. Professor Richard J. Cox wrote an introduction to the essay. Deirdre recently accepted a position at the University of Kentucky as a photographic archivist.

Congratulations to M.L.I.S. Alumnus Norman Horrocks on a well-deserved honor, an ALA honorary membership.

Shuju Wu, a Ph.D. student in the Telecommunications Department, won the best paper award at the IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference (CCNC) this year, for her paper entitled "Improving the Performance of Overlay Multicast with Dynamic Adaptation."
