Student Organizations Update

It is never too early (or too late!) to get involved in Library and Information Science professional organizations. Here at Pitt, student chapters of professional organizations offer get-togethers, activities, and a sense of professional comaraderie!

This month we highlight ... SCALA, the Student Chapter of the American Library Association, has several upcoming meetings and events:

A possible Barnes & Noble Gift Wrapping Fundraiser is also in the works, so stay tuned!

Next semester, one of the Coffee & Conversation sessions will feature an MLIS and PhD student poster session. The goal is to facilitate communication between MLIS and PhD students in the department, and to give everyone the opportunity to learn about the research topics that people are working on. Be sure to check out SCALA's Web site at http://www.sis.pitt.edu/~scala, or e-mail scala@sis.pitt.edu for more information.
